While planning for a family open house at her childcare centre, Karen, the educator, asked the children what they would like to make as a treat for their families. It was quickly decided that chocolate chip cookies would be a fun food to serve.

Karen gathered all of the ingredients for the cookies adn, together with the children, they mixed and stirred, then drepped the batter onto greased cookie sheets to bake. anxious children awaited the results.

The whole class gathered around the oven to watch Karen don oven mitts and carefully remove the cookies from the oven. To everyone's surprise, the cookies were completely flat and very hard.
